Child's Play
Aurora, IL
Children laugh as they tempt the cascading water falling from the stone sculptures on a warm summer evening. It is a game of dare and delight as they dash between the columns trying not to get too wet. The Swimming Stones scupture is an amazing sight that employs laws of physics. The stones are in perpetual motion as long as water is pumped from underneath them. A thin cushion of water supports three heavy stone blocks atop each of the three stone columns. The blocks gyrate and spin as water is forced under them. It is the work of artist Christian Tobin. Tobin was commissioned by the Aurora Public Arts Commission to create this piece. It is located at the corner of Stolp Avenue and Benton Streets in Aurora, IL

Please be aware that the actual print will vary somewhat in color, tint, and contrast from the image you see on your monitor. A variety of factors cause this; among those factors is monitor calibration and the fact that a monitor projects light where a print reflects light.
