The River Walk, Batavia, IL
The quiet water around the gazebo reflects as the couple is reflecting on nearly 70 years of their marriage. On Batavia's River Walk, the gazebo overlooks Duck Island and the North (Challenge Company) dam. Ducks and geese congregate, fish jump, and Herons stalk fingerlings in the shallows. The placid water here belies the quickly changing temperament of the river. A natural limestone wall around the west side of the nearby dam is a series of rocky shelves that cause the river to roil and tumble as it makes its way south. |
