Fabyan's Folly
In the early 1900’s Colonel Fabyan wanted to build a bridge across the Fox River joining the properties he owned on both sides of the river. The state of Illinois, however, insisted that his bridge must meet criteria for spanning a navigable waterway. The colonel didn’t see the sense in that since a series of dams obstructed the river every few miles and in the dry months it was about waist deep in the channel. About the only things that “navigated” the Fox were canoes and wading fishermen. People wonder why there is a lighthouse on the Fox River. Colonel Fabyan built it as a lasting tribute to the nonsense of bureaucracy. Today it still pretends to warn ships that have never navigated the Fox, nor ever will. |

Please be aware that the actual print will vary somewhat in color, tint, and contrast from the image you see on your monitor. A variety of factors cause this; among those factors is monitor calibration and the fact that a monitor projects light where a print reflects light. Your purchase is guaranteed to please you or you may return it for a refund.
