Foggy Morning Ride
Geneva, IL
| This image of a bicyclist crossing the fog-shrouded bridge over the Fox River earned a place in the Professional Photographers Association LOAN COLLECTION 2002 in international print competition. Marathon Press, publisher of the LOAN COLLECTION book describes this collection of images as the "best of the best" from over 8,000 entries. It received the Denise Kavanagh Award for best new artist at the juried St. Charles Fine Art Show in May 2003. It was also featured in the June 2003 issue of Chicago Magazine. This is the pedestrian/bike path bridge that runs below the Union Pacific Railroad trestle. They span the Fox River at the south end of Island Park in Geneva, IL. Kane County has a bike path system transformed from abandoned rail lines. This bridge hooks up with the former Aurora-and-Elgin trolley line that ran along side the river. On this morning in October 2001, the fog was about to clear when I hustled myself out of the coffee shop. A man walking by warned me about the moisture that might damage my camera. The fog and massive columns were too inspiring to worry about humidity. The din from a westbound freight above subsided as the last car rolled into the distance. Peace was restored and there was only the sound of the river swirling beneath the bridge. This was a moment when the subject creates excitement and you hope that the camera records the emotion.

Please be aware that the Giclée will vary slightly in color and contrast from the image you see on your monitor. This is normal and is a characteristic of all instruments that produce an image with light compared with an object that reflects light (the print).
