| There is a haunting aura when silence surrounds abandoned objects. It was somewhere on Hwy 12 in southwestern North Dakota or southeastern Montana that I saw this forlorn building and wagon. It was a gray afternoon in early August 2000 that seemed to promise rain, but there were only a few sprinkles and this part of the country was praying for rain. As the title indicates, there was no traffic, no cattle, and no human beings to interrupt the silence. Only a gentle warm breeze caused the prairie grass to wave. |
