Prints on Watercolor Paper
Prints on Canvas

Brian prints his photographs on watercolor paper of exceptional quality for its purity and stability.  His fine art watercolor paper is

  • Acid free - the presence of an acidic pH will break down cellulose and shorten a paper's life span.
  • Lignin free - lignins will turn brown, become acidic over time, and resist natural bonding of cellulose fibers.  The paper eventually becomes brittle.
  • 100% cotton - cotton is naturally acid and lignin free.  It is also much stronger than cellulose fiber made from wood.
  • Buffered - buffering prevents even the purest cotton papers from turning slightly acidic over time.
  • Free of optical brightening agent (OBA's) - OB A's are added to most ink receptive papers to increase their whiteness. OBA's may break down over time, causing irregular yellowing, or turn acidic.

Pigmented inks are used for their outstanding resistance to fading.

After being signed, several coats of a high-grade lacquer fixative are applied to each print. This lacquer not only helps protect it from pollutants, it further stabilizes the inks for print permanence.

The print then gets a final coat of semi gloss varnish for additional protection against scuffs, scratches, and UV light damage.

Conventional photographic paper is not used. This refined process produces detailed images that will last for generations without fading, color-shifting, or otherwise degrading.

Do not dry mount these prints. The heat will damage the varnish surface. Use hinge mounts or corner mounts when framing.

Brian guarantees that prints will not fade or degrade for the life of the purchaser.

Brian uses a double weave 100% cotton duck canvas that is water resistant because of the high grade pigment inks. It has a non-reflective matte surface that is slightly smoother than most canvases, allowing for greater detail, and is especially suitable for photographic images.

Pigmented inks are used for their outstanding resistance to fading.

Each canvas print is signed and then given several applications of lacquer sealant that protects and stabilizes the inks against fading or shifting in color from ultra-violet light.

The print then gets a final coat of semi gloss varnish for additional protection against scuffs, scratches, and UV light damage.

This canvas is easily stretched and tacked to wooden stretcher bars.

Do not dry mount these prints. The heat will damage the varnish surface.

There is a potential savings on the cost of presentation because canvas prints are displayed without glass or matting. There is also a trend to display them without frames.

As with the watercolor paper prints, the Brian DeWolf's canvas prints are guaranteed to not fade or shift in color for the lifetime of the purchaser.

Brian recommends framing your prints with archival, conservation-grade mat board and mounting board such as Bainbridge Alphamat Artcare® products, or similar museum grade products by Crescent Cardboard Company and TruVue. Do not use "regular" mat board or foam core boards. The print should be further protected using UV filtered glass. All reputable framing shops carry conservation framing materials.
